How to
Viewing and using the maps
To view a map, select “View Map”. Easy, right?
Pins are sorted into categories, usually by type of place/activity, and sometimes by location.
You can toggle the visibility of each layer to reduce the complexity.
For example, you can select only places to eat, or our personal favourite spots (if available).
Or you can filter out driving markers (parking, filling stations etc.) if you are not driving.
The pins have various icons which are usually self-explanatory, and colours, to help visualise the different types of places and activities.
You can view the maps on your desktop or your mobile device.
Loading them on Google Maps App
One useful feature is loading the map onto your Google Maps app. This allows you to visualise the pins as you navigate, and also toggle between different map types, Default or Satellite - depending on what you are trying to do, one may be more suitable than the other.
To do this
>> Open the map through the website - at this point, the Google Maps app should know of its existence.
>> Open the Google Maps app.
>> Go to the Saved tab, scroll down and select Maps.
>> Select the map from the list.
You may now go back, switch to a different tab or even close the app, the map should remain loaded. The pins should now be superimposed onto your main navigation interface.
In order to disable the pins, go through the same steps, but after selecting the map, click on its title and select X Close. The navigation screen should reset to its default (no pins).
